iPhone screen protector made from bulletproof glass put to test with a gun

Sir Lancelot’s Armor recently launched an iPhone and iPad protector made from bulletproof glass, one of the hardest materials in the world, that would help protect your device from scratches and falls. But can the bulletproof glass on the protector withstand an actual bullet? The folks at Ars Technica put this screen protector to test, by firing bullets aimed at an old iPhone 4. The protector isn’t as bulky as you’d expect it to be, and does a decent job at protecting your iPhone from scratches, but gets cracked with a screwdriver. The iPhone’s screen remains fine though. And here’s how the screen protector fares when actual bullets are fired at it: As you saw, the protector doesn’t hold up. From Ars Technica: My first round was a little right and knocked the thing off the stand—and also blew a hole through the screen protector and out the back of the iPhone. So in case anyone was wondering if iPhones are bulletproof, we’ve also managed to answer that question at the same time. They are not. We remounted the iPhone and took another half-dozen shots at it before once again blowing it off of the stand; I shot at it on the ground a few more times for good measure. By the time we were done, there wasn’t a whole lot left of the phone. Sir Lancelot’s Armor’s screen protector is priced at $40, is resistant to scratches, and can be applied without bubbles.
