The iPhone 5s is about mid-way in its product cycle, which means it is time to start thinking ahead to the iPhone 6. What is it going to look like? How is it going to be designed? The latest concept from designer Arthur Reis and videographer Ran Avni embraces Apple’s sapphire ambitions and pictures a 4.5-inch iPhone with a stunning curved glass display. Though the idea of a curved glass display is new to the iPhone, the technology has appeared in several Android phones, including older models such as the Nexus S and more recent offerings like the LG Flex and the Samsung Galaxy Round. The curved glass on the front of smartphone provides a smooth, luxurious feel that differs greatly from the harder edges of rectangular phones like the iPhone 5s. With the production of sapphire now under the control of Apple, Apple is likely to include the material in its next iPhone model. Besides being very scratch resistant, sapphire is also moldable, which is why it is used so frequently in watches.
