Apple today announced it is releasing new versions of the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display with support for China’s TD-LTE networks. The devices target China Mobile, which launched its TD-LTE network last year and started selling the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c for the 4G network earlier this year. BEIJING―April 1, 2014―Apple® today announced TD-LTE capable models of iPad Air™ and iPad mini™ with Retina® display, bringing high-speed LTE performance* to iPad® customers in China, are available starting today. The new iPad models give customers the ability to connect to today’s most advanced cellular data networks at blazingly fast speeds, so users can surf the web or download email and apps even faster. These new TD-LTE models also support China’s TD-SCDMA standard and add yet another option for Chinese consumers who want the mobility offered by the cellular models. Besides cellular models, customers also can choose a WLAN-only model. Chinese customers can purchase one of these new TD-LTE iPads through Apple retail stores, online at Apple’s China storefront or from select Apple Authorized resellers. The iPad Air with WLAN + TD-LTE Cellular will start at 4,488 (RMB) for the base 16GB model, while the TD-LTE version of the iPad mini with Retina display will start at 3,788 (RMB) for the 16GB model.
