Shazam to improve engagement with new design, direct access to music videos and more

Shazam is revamping its iOS app to improve the user experience and increase engagement with the app. The service is changing the focus of the app, moving away from song identification and towards supporting content like lyrics, TV and music videos. Part of Shazam’s overhaul is a new emphasis on tagging, quick access to song lyrics and other features that allow users to keep using the app after a song has been identified. The upcoming changes include: A brand new look and feel for music and television results with easy access to previewing, buying, and sharing a track Quick access to lyrics with a preview as soon as a track is matched Direct access to the music video and additional videos related to a song Recommendations unique to Shazam Improved tagging with support for previewing tags, saving your favorite tags, offline tagging and sharing your tags on Twitter, Facebook & G+ The News Feed also gets a boost with new track and album releases as well as exclusive video content pulled from a user’s favorite artists, favorite shows, and their friends’ Shazamed content. The app still includes Auto Shazam, which listens to songs in the background and automatically identifies the media that is playing. These changes will be rolled out gradually to all users over the next few weeks in a series of gradual updates. It’ll be available in both the Free and Encore version of Shazam for iPhone.
