Google Hangouts updated with iOS 7 design and iPad optimizations

Google updated Hangouts for iOS, overhauling the app with a new, flat design that mirrors the look and feel of iOS 7. Hangouts is a messaging app that ties into your Google account and allows you to send and receive messages, photos, videos and animated stickers with other Google users. Besides a new iOS 7 design, Hangouts is now optimized for the iPad with picture-in-picture video calling that takes advantage of extra screen real estate of the iPad. Other new features allow you to share a map of your current location and record video messages up to 10 seconds long that can be sent to other users. This update brings Hangouts to version 2.0.0 and follows a minor bug fix release that was rolled out in November of last year. The full list of changes in the latest version of Hangouts includes: Fully-optimized for the iPad, including picture-in-picture video calling Animated stickers that help you share exactly how you’re feeling Record and send video messages up to 10 seconds long Send a map of your current location Optimized for iOS 7 The last major update was released in October of 2013 and brought free voice calling to US and Canadian users.
