Apple working on ‘experimental’ non-iPhone branded 5.6-inch device? Probably not

As we draw closer and closer to Apple’s iPhone 6 intro(s), rumors get more frequent, aggressive, bigger, often more credible, but sometimes crazier as everyone tries to score free, easy media exposure. It’s just the way the world works, I’m afraid, and you can choose to participate in the speculation fest or simply ignore and mistrust everything until said device(s) go official. But where’s the fun in that? I mean, gossip can be so entertaining when it’s not taken too seriously. Case in point, a fresh report out of Taiwan claiming Apple has an “experimental” 5.6-inch gizmo in the pipeline, which it plans to launch under a different name than iPhone. Fishy? Ridiculous? Outright illogical and far-fetched? Sure, but also hysterical. Last time I laughed so hard, I think “Friends” was still on. Wait, I got it. The 5.6-incher will be branded as the iPhablet. iGiantPhone. iGalaxyNoteRival. You’re welcome to chime in with any other redonkolous ideas of possible monikers. Before wrapping up, just to cover all our bases, Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, which is actually a fairly prestigious and otherwise respectable newspaper, says the non-iPhone 5.6 incher might sport a sapphire glass display, while the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 should come with conventional Gorilla Glass protection. Also, Foxconn is tipped again as the main supplier of next-generation Apple handheld parts, aided by Cheng Uei Precision Industry and Simplo Technology. Oh, so the publication can be serious and report on information with a decent degree of plausibility once the juicy, nonsensical link bait is thrown.
