Adobe patches Flash vulnerability that allows remote control of a Mac

Adobe today released a security update for its Flash Player to close a vulnerability that allows an attacker to remotely control a Mac or PC. This vulnerability was reported security researchers Alexander Polyakov and Anton Ivanov of Kaspersky Labs and has been documented in the wild. Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.43 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh and Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.335 and earlier versions for Linux. These updates address a critical vulnerability that could potentially allow an attacker to remotely take control of the affected system. Adobe is aware of reports that an exploit for this vulnerability exists in the wild, and recommends users update their product installations to the latest versions The security flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 12.0.0.43 or earlier. All Mac owners are encouraged to check their flash player by visiting Adobe’s About Flash Player page and updating if necessary.
