Apple is distributing a prerelease build of OS X 10.9.2 to employees, which suggests the public release is right around the corner, claims AppleInsider. The version being distributed internally is identified as build 13C64.Sources close to the blog confirm this build will include a fix for the “goto fail” SSL bug that was patched in iO 7 with the 7.0.6 release last week. Apple announced over the weekend that its was working on the issue in OS X with Apple spokeswoman Trudy Miller telling Reuters that “We are aware of this issue and already have a software fix that will be released very soon.” Apple has been widely criticized for not patching both iOS and OS X at the same time, deciding instead to disclose and fix this flaw in iOS 7, while leaving it open in OS X. Besides the SSL fix and various performance enhancement, the latest version of OS X 10.9.2 adds a call waiting feature to FaceTime audio and video calls. It also updates Messages with the ability to block incoming iMessages from individual senders. Other changes include: Improved “Autofill” capabilities in Safari A fix for an issue that could cause audio distortion Improved reliability when connecting to a file server using SMB2 A fix for an issue that could cause VPN connections to disconnect Improved VoiceOver navigation in Mail and Finder improved accuracy of unread messages counts in Mail Fix for an issue that prevents Main from receiving messages from select providers Apple has released seven beta versions of OS X 10.9.2 to developers since December.
