Apple adds new mountaineering story to its ‘Your Verse’ website

Apple adds new mountaineering story to its ‘Your Verse’ website

The iPad is helping explorers Adrian Ballinger and Emily Harrington reach new heights as they climb some of the toughest terrain in the world with their Alpenglow Expeditions group. Their travels with an iPad are documented in the latest addition to Apple’s “Your Verse” advertising campaign. The group uses the iPad in all parts of the trip, starting off in base camp and making it all the way to summit. The iPad helps them plan their route, track their supplies and decide where to camp along the way. As you can imagine, the mapping capabilities of a GPS-equipped iPad are indispensable. “Five years ago, it was hard to even get a paper map of some of these places,” said Adrian Ballinger. “Now with the iPad it’s remarkable how much we can plan ahead.” The iPad also serves as an important communication tool, allowing the explorers to create blogs posts and upload photos to social media in real-time. It’s such an integral part of their hiking experience that the tablet is one of a few essential tools that stay in their bags for the entire trip. At each stage of the climb, Ballinger and Harrington reduce the gear in their packs. So as the climb becomes more difficult, they’re carrying only the most essential tools. And because it’s a crucial part of how they navigate the mountain safely, the iPad makes it all the way to the top. This story is part of ongoing campaign that started last year with Apple’s “Life on iPad” profiles. The website and accompanying videos showcase people using the iPad in their daily lives to order food, drive a car, fly a plane, assist in surgery and more. The “Your Verse” campaign continues with this same theme and expands it to focus on people who use the iPad in unimaginable ways such as deep sea diving for coral reefs and hiking some of the highest mountain peaks on the globe.
