According to 9to5Mac, Apple may start replacing broken iPhone 5c displays in retail stores as early as next week. Reports last year hinted at this program, but Apple needed time to obtain replacement displays and train employees on the calibration machines used to replace the screens.This new program will a money saver for Apple, allowing the company to repair phones instead of replace them. Previously, customers with a cracked screen would have to turn in their phone and walk out with a full unit replacement. Anything on the broken phone that was not backed up would be lost. Now, Apple will be to repair a phone in about an hour and customers won’t have to worry about losing their data. It may also be affordable for customers, with rumors suggesting the repair on an out-of-warranty handset could cost $149. Though the original rumor claimed the iPhone 5s would be included in the screen repair program, it appears that the rollout next week only applies to the iPhone 5c.
