Just about every device running iOS also runs on Apple’s brand new 64-bit A7 chip. Only two notable exceptions come to mind: The Apple TV and the iPod touch. The latter might cease to exists, but with regards to the former, rumor has it that the Apple TV will be refreshed in 2014 with A7 in tow. The source of the rumor is none other than KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a pretty solid track record when it comes to this stuff. He says Apple’s goal is to sell a little over 8 million of these faster Apple TVs next year. Speaking about Apple TV, what about the famous television set built by Apple? That thing has been a rumor since before Steve Jobs announced the iPhone back in 2007. Well, according to Kuo, the Apple television will be released in either late 2015 or early 2016 at the earliest. Why so far away? Two reasons: It’s hard to sign all the deals necessary to provide content to consumers around the world. And Apple doesn’t know how to build televisions at a massive scale. Circling back to the more plausible rumor, the refreshed Apple TV, what could Apple add to it to make it more appealing? Some say that the remote control could become a microphone. Others say Apple might dabble with gesture recognition via a built-in camera.
