America has 50 beautiful states, but a handful are prettier than the rest. What makes them so seductive? A complete lack of sales tax. That’s right, if you see something on a store shelf that costs $599, then it costs $599, not $599 + 8.25% or whatever it is you pay in your state. According to ABC News, employees at Apple’s Delaware store love to boast about this fact. Located in the Christiana Mall, employees say buses full of shoppers, often from New York and New Jersey, come to buy tens or even hundreds of iPhones that then get resold in other markets. There are so many people visiting this one Apple Store that the Delaware police have between four and ten State Troopers patrolling the area at any given time. Apple’s not paying for the protection, it’s Delaware taxpayers, though considering the number of corporations that pay their taxes in the state thanks to the low rate, it isn’t really an issue. Should you go all the way to Delaware to buy an iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c? No, just man up and pay whatever it is you have to pay in your city. It’s not worth the time of sitting on a bus to save the $50 to $60 that typically gets added to the cost of a $650 piece of consumer electronics. Can’t you just put in a few hours extra of overtime? Anyway, expect to hear more about this particular store as we approach Black Friday, otherwise known as the day after Thanksgiving when thousands of Americans go absolutely insane, to the point of committing criminal acts, just to get a good deal on a gadget they could most definitely live without.
