Supply of the iPhone 5s is finally starting to catch up with global demand for the handset. As spotted by MacRumors, all capacities and colors, including the gold, are now shipping in 1-2 weeks. This estimate applies to the US, Canada, and most of Europe and Asia Pacific. Shortly after the iPhone 5s launched, supply of the handset slipped to 7-10 days and then “October,” which was the month after the launch. Supplies of the gold and the silver model, in particular, were constrained. T-Mobile mentioned this supply constraint in latest quarterly earnings report. In the middle of October, ship times improved to 2-3 weeks, which is where they stayed until now. The difficulty in finding the iPhone 5s in the US led to exorbitant prices for the iPhone 5s on auction websites like eBay. It also spawned the creation of a popular iPhone tracker website that would scan the inventory of Apple retail stores in the US.
