Apple’s European’s stores go live with cash discounts, not gift cards for Black Friday

Apple is kicking off its Black Friday sales in Europe with cash discounts instead of the gift cards that were offered in Australia and New Zealand. These cash savings are how Apple handled its Black Friday sales in the past. The Black Friday sale in the US is expected to follow in the footsteps of New Zealand and Australia by offering gift cards with purchases. Everyone assumed all of Apple’s retail chain would adopt this gift card promotion, but apparently that is not the case. It’s not clear why European stores are still offering cash and not adopting this new gift card-based promotion. In the UK, discounts are expectedly modest: iPad Air: Save £31 ($50) to £61 ($99) iPad mini: Save £15 ($24) on nonRetina models, no discount on Retina models iPad 2: Save £25 ($40) iPod touch: Save £25 ($40) iPod nano: Save £11 ($18) MacBook Air: Save £81 ($132) MacBook Pro: Save £81 on both Retina and nonRetina models ($132) iMac: Save £81 ($132) Apple TV: Save £15 ($24) AirPort Extreme: Save £15 ($24) AirPort Time Capsule: Save £25 ($40) The Black Friday sale in the US and Canada should begin at midnight PST (3AM EST).
