The Retina iPad mini went on sale today, with select reviewers having already received the device from Apple. As you’d expect Geekbench scores for the device are out, and reveal that like the iPhone 5s, the iPad mini’s A7 chip too is running at 1.3GHz. This compares to the iPad Air’s A7 chip which runs at a slightly faster clock speed of 1.4GHz. The slower clock speed could likely be to prevent overheating give the Retina iPad mini’s small casing or to consume less power and maintain a 10-hour battery life.
