Samsung Galaxy Pro ads poke fun at lack of “Pro” features in iPad

The iPad appeals to a lot of people, and sells in huge numbers, but the lack of “Pro” features like multitasking and multi-users in iOS can be restrictive at times. Samsung’s ad agency has fully capitalised on these weaknesses of the iPad in its new series of Galaxy Pro tablet commercials. The first in the four-series ad is titled “Two Things at Once” and as you probably guessed, pokes fun at the lack of side-by-side multitasking on the iPad. The ad shows two employees video conferencing with their boss, who asks them to send and refer to a presentation: The second ad takes up the lack of multi-user logins on the iPad, and shows an iPad owner, whose kid has deleted some important charts: The third ad is titled “Pixel Density” and boasts the Galaxy Tab Pro’s higher resolution and pixel density than the iPad Air: The fourth ad isn’t about the iPad, but about the Kindle book reader, which, Samsung argues, has very limited functionality. All the commercials are actually part of a bigger ad that Samsung released last month, that took on all tablets including Microsoft’s Surface. Funnily enough, if you look closely, you will notice that Samsung has added disclaimers (in small print) which state that the screens have been simulated, and the Multi-Window multitasking feature doesn’t work with all apps. Samsung has always been open about acknowledging through its ads that it sees Apple as its prime competitor, but the ads have gradually moved away from making fun of Apple customers to mocking Apple’s products. Let us know what you thought about the Samsung Galaxy Pro ads in the comments below. Continue reading
