Apple’s latest YouVerse segment profiles Bollywood choreographer Feroz Khan

Last month Apple focused on using the iPad in sports to detect concussions, this month Apple added a new profile to its You Verse website that showcases how the iPad is helping a choreographer plan and record some of the world’s most elaborate dance scenes. The latest segment focuses on Bollywood choreographer Feroz Khan and details how he uses the iPad Air to shape the dance scenes that he painstakingly choreographs. Bollywood dancing is all about the details. And Khan knows that every detail, from prop to costume, can tell a deeper story. While walking among the tightly packed stalls in India’s many outdoor markets, he pulls out his iPad Air to snap photos of colorful finds perfect for a particular dancer or scene. Then he quickly and easily shares the images with his costume designer and prop master to begin collaborating on his vision. The iPad Air plays a role in almost all aspects of Khan’s work, serving as a tool to write down ideas, photograph props for a scene and even capture a scene and review it in slow mo. Khan uses the SloPro app for analyzing dance moves and Artemis HD for experimenting with various lens options. He used to carry around sketchbooks, cameras, and three-ring binders for his work, now he only uses the iPad. Continue reading
