Microsoft released Office for iPad last week after years of rumors and speculation about the existence of the app. The four Office iPad apps, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OneNote, have now crossed 12 million downloads on the App Store just in their first week. The three main Office apps follow a freemium model, where users can download the app and use it to view documents for free, but to edit documents they need to purchase a $99/year Office 365 subscription. It was quite apparent that iPad users needed a good app to read and edit their documents, as the three apps shot up to the top free and top grossing App Store charts in just one day.
