Japanese blog Macotakara.jp today published images taken during the Hong Kong Electronics Fair that showcase iPhone 6 mockup devices used by accessory makers to design cases for the rumored handset. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and held this week, April 13-16, the fair is one of the largest in the world. The use of mockup devices is a common practice among accessory makers who need to prepare their products to launch along with a new device. In some circumstances, accessory manufacturers receive schematics directly from Apple, while others base their mockups on details leaked by parts suppliers contracted by Apple. These latest photos are one of several recent leaks that suggest Apple will launch at least one and possibly two iPhone 6 models with larger screens later this year. Rumors point to the fall release of a 4.7-inch model and an early 2015 release of a 5.5-inch version. Other specs rumored for the iPhone 6 include an ultra-thin, nearly bezel-less design with a side power button to facilitate one-hand use of the phone. Hardware-wise, the iPhone 6 may ship with Apple’s new A8 processor with 1GB RAM, a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an improved 8-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The iPhone 6 likely will launch alongside iOS 8, which may feature a new Healthbook app, an improved Maps experience, Siri refinements and more. [Via 9to5Mac] Continue reading
