Apple starts emailing developers with WWDC ticket information

Apple announced last week that its WorldWide Developer Conference 2014 will be held from June 2nd through June 6th at Moscone West Conference Center in San Francisco. Unlike previous years, tickets to WWDC are being offered on a lottery basis with registrations being accepted over the weekend and ending today. As announced by Apple, developers are now finding out their ticket status and whether they were among the few who were approved for tickets. Developers eligible for the lottery had to be a paid member of one of Apple’s developer’s program. Apple also was providing 200 scholarships to student developers who could attend for free. Each WWDC ticket will cost $1599 and will provide access to the full WWDC conference, which includes over 100 technical sessions, the technical expertise of over 1,000 Apple engineers, and hands-on labs to help developers integrate new technologies into their apps. Apple is expected to use WWDC to unveil new versions of iOS and OS X. The company allegedly is prepping iOS 8 with a variety of improvements to its core apps like Maps and Siri as well as adding new features like fitness-focused Healthbook app. Apple also is expected to take the wraps off OS X 10.10, the successor to Mavericks.
