The iPad was a rumor dating back to 2004, and an enthusiastic fan posted a concept rendering of what the iPad could look like, six years before the device was actually released. Of course, back then the iPhone or iOS didn’t exist, so the concept imagines the iPad running OS X 2go, a mobile port of Apple’s Mac OS X desktop operating system. And since multi-touch screens weren’t a thing back then, the concept iPad also has a trackpad. The 2004 iPad is shown to be 1-inch thick, 0.7 lbs heavy and sport a 312 x 378 pixels touch screen, with the tag line “Your Life in a Pocket.” The most notable thing about the concept, however, is that its designer got the iPad name right, years before Apple introduced it.
