Apple adds gifting option to the iBookstore

Apple adds gifting option to the iBookstore

If you are a book lover or have one on your holiday shopping list, you now have a new way to give or receive a book. As noted by Macworld, Apple has added a new option in the iBookstore that allows you to send and receive ebooks as a gift. Gifting a book is a welcome addition to the iBookstore, bringing it on par with Amazon and its Kindle book store, which has supported book gifting for a while. Gifting in the iBookstore works just like it does on the iOS App Store and in iTunes. Just pick the book that you want to gift, then either tap on the arrow next to the price and select “Gift This Book” if you are on a Mac or select the share button and choose “Gift” if you are on an iOS device. A dialog box will appear that allows you to enter the recipient’s details. You’ll need to take a few minutes to type in the sender’s name, add an optional message and select the date you want to send the gift. Follow the prompts to send your book and it’ll arrive in the recipients inbox on the date that you’ve selected. Do you plan on taking advantage of this new gifting feature? You have to admit that it would make a great last-minute gift in a pinch. Continue reading
