BlackBerry Messenger for iPhone will be available today, but you’ll have to wait in a line

BlackBerry has announced that BBM for iPhone will be available on the App Store “in the next few hours.” The company had released its messaging app last month on the App Store, but pulled it quickly because a pre-release BBM for Android build leaked, which caused server issues. From BlackBerry’s blog: I am thrilled to tell you that we are about to officially resume our rollout of BBM for Android and iPhone customers around the globe! In the next few hours, people will start seeing BBM in Google Play, the App Store and in select Samsung App Stores – where it will be free to download. Sadly, even a company of BlackBerry’s scale seems to not be well-prepared to handle the surge in traffic to BBM servers as a result of the rollout. Here’s how it is going to work… Download BBM – the easiest way is to visit BBM.com from your Android or iPhone browser* Once you install the app, open it, and enter your email address to hold your spot in line We will email you as soon as you reach the front of the line and can start using BBM If you’ve already signed up on BBM.com, you can skip the line and start using BBM as soon as it’s available. We’ll let you know as soon as BBM for iPhone goes live on the App Store. Till then, let us know in the comments if you plan to install it. Continue reading
